Let us face it. Texting or SMS sending has become indispensable to our daily lives. Dubbed as the world’s texting capital, the Philippines boast of an average volume of 400 million text messages per day. That is more than all the daily text message volume of China, United States of America and the United Kingdom combined. Filipinos are drawn to texting because it is apparently less expensive than calling. Furthermore, with the country’s telecommunications companies’ promotional tactics like unlimited texting, more and more Filipinos are addicted to this technological advancement.
However, despite affordable texting offerings, there are some consumers who still seek free texting and will grab any opportunity they can just to get free service. Since the younger age groups in the country are already Internet-connected, they resort to free online texting especially when they run out of load credits. So how does free online texting work? First, the consumer is asked to register an account with their website in order to start sending free text messages to friends from anywhere in the world. One is usually allowed to send up to three free text messages to a unique mobile number. However, after sending the third message, the recipient is notified to reply to the sender’s message so that the recipient’s number would not be blocked. This may be the only downside of “free” online texting. So why do some teenage mobile users opt to utilise free online texting services? Well, at some point it is free of charge, and let us face it, we need to find costless ways to connect with friends during emergency.
