Configuring Your Surplus TVs
Surplus television sets imported from Japan have a different configuration compared to other television sets coming from other countries. One problem that is associated when buying a surplus TV from this country is its inability to directly connect itself to other TV stations in the Philippines. They only show the default stations or any station recognized by its system. There are actually two ways to enable your surplus TV to receive other channels. The first one is by using a tuner box. It allows your antenna to pick up the signal from a particular TV channel and convert that signal to enable your TV to show the channel. You can always ask the surplus shop where your TV purchase was made about a tuner box.
However, if you do not want to spend a single dime over a tuner box, you can use a VHS player that is cable-ready or that has a tuner box with it as a good alternative for a channel adaptor. If you want hassle-free re-channelling, you can always opt for a cable TV converter box, which easily gives access to previously restricted channels. Basically, the function of a cable converter is to transform television channels from those passing through a cable TV wire. However, its use already included configuring channels for non-CATV subscribers. If you decide to buy a surplus TV imported from Japan, always keep in mind that you need to re-channel it so that you can watch as many channels as you can—whether you are a CATV subscriber or not.
